Yes, you heard it right. The world’s most affordable phone is priced at Rs 251, courtesy Ringing Bells. The company that was founded just four months back is launching a 3G smartphone named Freedom 251 at just Rs 251 and not Rs 499 as we wrote yesterday.
Its just not we, the entire Indian technology media was wrong yesterday when they guessed the price of the most affordable smartphone as Rs 499 but the Noida based company shocked the entire country this morning when it announced the price half of our guess mark. And it’s not a feature phone, rather an Android smartphone.
Technical Specifications
The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 comes with a 4 inch WVGA IPS display with 3G dual SIM capability. The device is powered by 1.3 GHz quadcore processor with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage space. As usual the storage capacity can be enhanced with additional external memory cards. The Freedom 251 features 3.2 megapixel back camera and 0.3 megapixel front camera.
The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 comes with a single circular physical button just like the iPhone. Besides, the phone comes with other regular features like Bluetooth, FM, proximity sensor and is fitted with 1450 mAh battery.
The Freedom 251, as shown in the advertisement, comes with loads of preinstalled apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Swachh Bharat, Women Safety, Farmer, Medical, Fisherman etc.
Ringing Bells is so audacious a company that at the price of Rs 251, it offers warranty of one year. The phone will be available on prebooking and the booking starts from February 18, i.e from tomorrow. Anticipating huge number of bookings, the company is planning to deliver all the devices by 30th June this year.
Ringing Bells Freedom 251 will be launched today by Union defense minister Manohar Parrikar in presence of Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Member of Parliament at New Delhi’s Nehru Park.
